If you have Windows 8 or higher (eg. Windows 10), then the webcam might be already installed through Windows Update. If that doesn't apply, then visit the official website and download the Driver Update tool. It will install all the missing drivers for your laptop as long as you have a supported operating system.
The application allows maximum 1 hour of continuous recording. You can change this value (in seconds) on the Record Video section in the interface. On that section there should be a tab called Video Clip Duration. You can adjust the setting for video click to maximum of 3600 seconds.
As long as the Firewall is on and it's blocking the application, nobody on the Internet will be able to turn on your webcam unless the computer is hacked. This means that no, it's not possible to turn on your webcam if you've never used it on your laptop.
I downloaded Dell Webcam Center, but when I try to use it, it says ''No supported webcam driver detected. Please install the webcam driver using the Dell Resource CD and launch Webcam Center again'' I entered the Dell Resource CD for my dell vista but there are no webcam drivers. Where can I get the right webcam driver?

I, too, tried the program, and found this same problem "No supported webcam driver". I uninstalled, thinking that it won't work on my system (Vista, 64-bit, Inspiron 1545)
The Dell Video Chat that came preinstalled DOES work on the system, as well as using Windows Live Messenger and Skype. So where can one obtain the driver to make Webcam Center/Manager work?
Dell Webcam Central does not need activation. The application can be turned on or off but in order to do that you need to start it first. If it's installed, the software is found in the Start > All Programs > Dell Webcam Central.
After you have installed the driver corresponding to your webcam, please visit this link and download the software mentioned in the first post. The website you will visit is the actual official support forum related to Dell products. The link posted installs 2.4 version of the software which will be enough for your webcam.
I have a Dell Inspiron N411z laptop. The webcam worked fine initially, but when I started it in Yahoo Messenger, it displayed "No supported webcam". Now, it still shows "No supported webcam" even if I try to open it normally. I couldn't find the installation .exe file in the installation folder of Dell Webcam Center. On the Dell forum, they said that I need to uninstall-reinstall the webcam. What can I do?

Still, it shows no supported webcam even in normal opening. I couldn't find the installation .exe file in the Dell webcam center installed in the program file to follow the remedial action given on the Dell forum like uninstall-uninstall Skype-install webcam. Or is there any appropriate way to get back the webcam functioning?
I uninstalled my Dell Webcam Central because it stopped working. I thought that I could just reinstall it so that the problem could be fixed, however, I cannot find a way to reinstall it.

You can either check the support CD which came with your laptop or visit Dell Support in order to obtain a new version of the software or driver for your webcam. Dell Webcam Central is not available publicly and you will need to use your Service Tag number in order to get access to the downloads list. From the support page of your device, try and find the software by selecting the operating systems available. In many cases a specific software is available only for Windows but you could try and download it.
I really want to ask: approximately how long can your Dell Webcam record a video? Because I wanted to record a subject that will be going on for hours. About seven hours. Can I record this long on the Webcam? Can you tell me about how long it can record?

The application can record for as long as there is free space on your partition. It will record until the partition is full then it will stop automatically. It all depends on the hard drive size where the output folder is specified.
After I updated the Dell Webcam with version 2.01.17, I received the following message from application "Your webcam may be used by another application. Close the application to start video streaming". No other application which could use the webcam is running on the computer. My laptop is Dell Vostro 3550. What I have to do in order to solve the problem?

You can try to update the webcam drivers from Dell support web page. Also try to run Webcam Diagnostics. Check if you are running a face recognition program for logging in to Windows. Temporarily disable the face recognition program and verify your webcam. The Dell Webcam Central should work fine.

I am recommending this because there is no driver available for downloading.
